Yes, we do still live. College is out for the summer and we're trying to work around various impeidments to have things update semi-regularly again.
For those who still pay attention: Yes, we've just introduced three new characters, all vilains. Meet Zero, the necromancer - he's the brains of the three. Elliot is the blaster-type elementalist who can barely blast enough to start a campfire of dry wood. Kia is the illusionist who has long since realized she can seduce her way through school.
One or two other characters, largely neutral in nature, are slated to appear sometime soon; one is a campus security officer, and the other is the Dread RA who makes an offscreen appearance in #1. Muhuhaha.
Thanks to everyone who still happens to be paying attention!

Right, so, I've been kind of delinquent about uploading the filler material Jaybird gave me. This is fixed through mid-January right now, though. Hopefully JAybird and I can conspire over winter break and such to get a bit more of a backlog built up... And I'll pester some other people to see if we can distribute the workload a bit more.
Invitations for other people doing filler and/or guest strips are still wide open, folks.

So Jaybird's been buried alive under projects in college (remember, people, college professors all suffer from a 20-point Delusion that no other professor gives out any REAL homework so they have to make up for it), which is why the last few strips have been kind of lagging. We do have a handful of fillers now, though. The various characters primarily rendered as ninjas, pirates, or space pirates.
I'm not kidding, anyone who wants to do a sketch or short strip of HDI is welcome to do so; it'll help keep Jaybird from imploding under pressure.

Explanation on #10
This trip was actually a concept for a while - largely based on the actual real-life orientations of the people the characters are based on. When I passed Jaybird the strip, I wasn't aware that the update would be during the week of Coming Out Day, but it works perfectly for it.
In other news, Jaybird has access to a closer scanner, so updates may settle down again soon - but that doesn't mean we don't need anything people are willing to draw/sketch/scribble for us! Anything HDI-themed that anyone wants to submit is welcome!

College can be a killer...
So, Jaybird's a little bit buried by a bunch of pjojects at college, so the update's going to be lagging a little until I get a few fillers set up again. Such is life, eh?
Meanwhile! Anyone with an artistic bent who wants to do so is perfectly welcome - and encouraged - to sketch guest comic/artwork. I'll post it up as the schedule and updates permit, and we'll try to get a "fanart" page up as soon as we have one or two pieces. If anyone feels kind enough to do so, the address of choice is in my profile. Just stick something like HDI in the subject so I realize what it is...
Meanwhile, I'm off to fight some horses and try to Mimic enough artistic skill to fake a filler. Let's hope the horses are high-XP.

First: Supreme thanks to Ky for everything she's done getting the site to look decent, without the tacky blue background. Also, everyone (yes, that means you) give her a standing ovation for getting us a profile page set up.
Second: Jaybird (that's the artist, for those who missed the earlier introduction), after an exhaustive search, has located a scanner. Thus, the next few updates are, in fact, continuations of the story arc, rather than profiles.
Third: The college term has started, as many know. We'll be trying to keep to our weekly update schedule, but interruptions may occur. If so, we'll make an effort at having a profile to fill the gap, or some other filler, rather than being stuck completely barren.

Interruption From The Webmaster...
Well, temporarily the webmaster, anyway. Ky here, just noting that I am aware that the notebook is overlapping on 19" screens, and I'll be fixing that in the morning when I get back to my home computer and DreamweaverMX (to upload the fixed BG back up to my host).
Thanks for your patience,

Number Five and a Half
Right, so, for this week, we've got the profile of one of our cast - the infamous Foxfire Kitsuya, creature of dubious origins, shifty behavior, and a tendency towards big swords and flashy attack names. When I eventually manhandle the site to have a profile section, this is what we'll have uploaded for Fox's spot.
Why this instead of a comic? Simple: The artist has real world events reducing her free time, and she wasn't sure she could get #6 completed. So, here we are.
With luck, next week we'll have #6 up for everyone - and maybe I'll even manage to fight the site's code into submission to get a profiles page.
Wish us luck.
Incidentally... Today's contributors are Nikki Lee (AKA Jaybird), Jesh of AVEN fame, and Matthew Craft (Archdean). Art's Jaybird's, profile's mine, layout is thanks to Jesh.
